Me and my services

I am a midwife since 1992 and worked in hospitals and midwife practices teaching pre labour courses and taking care of pregnant women and doing the afterbirth care and house visits. My aim is to help you strengthen your own skills while remaining there for you when I’m needed. I look forward to be able to help you enter this new and exciting stage in life with my skills and experience. I advise you on all topics during pregnancy. Birth preparation courses for English speaking couples.

I offer home visits for care in the afterbirth phase and breastfeeding period. This is a special time for you and I would like to accompany you as an expectant and growing family during this exciting time. I offer women and their families the support they need – regardless of their background, lifestyle or social position. Whether the mother is privately insured or not is irrelevant.

If you choose me to take care of you, please contact me as soon as possible as bottlenecks can also occur time and again in the outpatient midwifery sector.

From the start of the pregnancy, you are entitled to midwife assistance. Most midwives offer their extensive services in the form of home visits. Some offer their services at a midwife practice.

Midwife Care

Every woman is entitled to a midwife to help during the time of pregnancy, childbirth, afterbirth phase and breast feeding. Midwives offer a comprehensive and holistic care during this time and are a competent contact until the end of breastfeeding. To get to know you better and to build a relationship of trust, it is best to contact a midwife as soon as possible. The costs of a midwife’s services is regulated by the payment agreement for midwives.

Statutory health insurance completely covers these services. Payment takes place directly with the health insurance companies. Many private insurance companies also cover these services. The following services are defined in the salary agreement for midwives:

Pregnancy

From the start of the pregnancy, you are entitled to midwife assistance. Most midwives offer their extensive services in the form of home visits. Some offer their services at a midwife practice.

Midwife services during pregnancy

Preliminary consultation, care of pregnant women involving documentation, called the maternity log, help during pregnancy related problems, help during high risk pregnancies, childbirth preparation in a group in individual birth preparation (only possible with medical certificate).

Postnatal phase

It begins after the baby is born. It lasts eight weeks and is designed for the physical recovery from pregnancy and birth. It is a phase of transformation and new orientation and marks the transition of becoming a mother and parent. Afterbirth care through a midwife is very helpful for the new family. This is the reason why health insurance covers the costs for midwife visits for up to 12 weeks after the birth.

During the first ten days after the birth, daily home visits are covered if necessary. These services do not depend on where and how the baby was born.

The care for mother and child is realised in form of visits at home during the first 12 weeks after birth. Midwives give guidance and advice regarding the care of and nutrition for the baby including breast feeding the baby if there are any breastfeeding problems. They also observe how the involution of the uterus is progressing.

Breastfeeding

After the postpartum period, you and your child have probably adjusted to breastfeeding. However, during the process of breastfeeding, questions or maybe even problems arise. You might want to know how to manage your work and breastfeeding schedule or when and how your baby should receive the first complementary feeding.

The midwife can offer support in case of a build-up of milk or if the child does not want to eat. How long you want to breastfeed your child is an individual decision that should be decided by you and your child. The numerous positive aspects with regard to breastfeeding justify a longer breastfeeding period.

WHO recommends to exclusively breastfeed during the first six months. For how long you and your child want to breastfeed we, as midwives, gladly provide support.

Midwife services during the breastfeeding period include several consultations via telephone and home visits until the end of the breastfeeding period.

Miscarriage and stillbirth, birth and death are very close. Some parents have to go through this painful experience. The midwife, of course, also offers support and help in this sad period.
